This spring, Red Insight is offering a two day zine workshop on the theme of Sex Worker Family.

We will meet on 11 and 12 May, to create a zine together at the Prostitute Information Centre (PIC) in Amsterdam. We will spend a weekend exploring what family means to us as sex workers, and get creative with our findings.

Are you thinking about coming out to a family member? What are the important relationships in your life? Do you see some of your friends and colleagues as siblings, or part of your support network? What’s a chosen family? We will dive into questions like these, and get creative with visuals and words to collaborate on a zine. You will each get a copy of the final zine.

ZINE: Zine, as in fanzine, is an independent self published magazine. They are made and used to share stories that are less likely to be published by mainstream publishers. In this workshop you can work with collage, writing or other forms of visual arts.

All experience levels are welcome, whether you’re an avid zine-maker or you are new to creative writing, artwork, collage or zines. And you’re especially welcome if this is your first time attending a sex worker workshop, or visiting the PIC.

We can accommodate 10 participants, so we encourage people to apply asap. We offer everyone a €100 honoraria for taking part, plus travel expenses if needed. This is a workshop for current and former sex workers only, giving priority to BIPOC and migrant sex workers.

The workshops will take place on 11-12 May at 14:00-18:00 at the Prostitution Information Center, Enge Kerksteeg 3, Amsterdam 1012 GV. To get involved or ask any questions, send an email to info [at] redinsight [dot] org.

The workshop will be held in English but Dutch and Spanish informal translations/assistance can be provided. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs. PIC is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
