During the last weekend of March queer.red is organising their first multi-day festival, Whorehouse Cinema at Cinetol Amsterdam. Just like their former events the program will be soaked in sex worker visual art.
queer.red will showcase as much sex worker made art as they can possibly squeeze into one space. So sex worker voices will be front and centre, with a conscious focus on queer and trans sex workers. The program features four free art exhibitions, an exciting set of short and feature length films and documentaries, and Q&As with the sex worker artists and film makers involved. There will be brunches, and training in creating sexy self portraits and cinematically inspired content. Plus there is an erotic choose your own adventure VR experience!

On Wheels
And if that’s not enough to fill your thigh high boots, then don’t miss the queer pop up strip club and the mobile immersive performance peep show. “The Peep Show Hoes is a party mix of art, design, theatre and activism… on wheels! With joy, we will roll to the queer.red festival in Amsterdam to celebrate sexual freedom together.” says Mischa Tydeman, one of the leading forces behind the project.
queer.red promotes work that is made by and about our community, to challenge stereotypes with more complex and realistic representations of our work. The Foundation is made up of current and former sex workers, feminists, queer and trans people. Their hope is that the festival will stimulate artistic expression and inspiration, along with public education, to advance sex worker rights.
Artivism
“We believe that we need it all: showcase art made by renowned artists as well as artists from within our communities. We need art to lift up our spirits, and to challenge mainstream narratives. Sex work artivism is not only politics, socio-economics, health and getting our rights, but it is also pleasure and beauty!” states the queer.red manifesto.
